As in the military, there are general orders to govern certain functions of a soldier. These general orders are more like guidelines for our class. A student will not be required to memorize them for rank placement. But, they will be emphasized over and over again. Though there may be certain “awards” for those who can memorize them.
First General Order: I will pay attention to my surroundings at all times and keep myself out of situations which may force me to engage in a fight.
Second General Order: I will try my absolute best to avoid engaging in a fight. These steps may include ignoring the person, aggressively telling them you do not want to fight, or reporting the incident to a local law enforcement official.
Third General Order: If my efforts have failed in NOT engaging in a fight, I will only apply enough force to stop my opponent from engaging.
Fourth General Order: Whether I win the fight or not, I will assess the situation afterwards and learn from my mistakes.
Fifth General Order: I will assess myself daily and try to improve myself to the next level. No one is perfect and there is always room for improvement.
Sixth General Order: When my opponent stops being aggressive, I will stop as well. But, I will make sure and keep my guard up and continue to pay attention to my opponent and my surroundings at all times.
